Sharp Tongue Duo
Sharp Tongue Studio creates object-based artwork, using reclaimed materials to challenge modern-day systems.
Wife + Husband duo, Eryka and John, are based in Maryland. We turn plywood, paint, and found materials into vibrant pieces that feel alive - funny, feral, and a little unhinged.
Our work blends street-art energy with botanical surrealism, cartoon distortions, and pop-graphic intensity.
We’re makers, collaborators, and problem-solvers. Whether it’s routed wood cutouts, gallery pieces, murals, or one-off commissions, we approach every project with humor, attitude, and a deep commitment to expression.
Meet the Artist: Eryka
Art with Bite
Eryka Kahunanui makes art that is loud, messy, and absolutely necessary. She builds beauty from chaos, resurrecting cardboard, denim, and the discarded guts of everyday life.
Her art blends her West Coast upbringing — all color, energy, and fearless experimentation — with her Native Hawaiian roots, where connection, sovereignty, and respect for the land are non-negotiable. The result is a body of work that hums with contradiction.
Her work is her growl. Each piece is part protest, part prayer, stitched together with humor sharp enough to draw blood. She doesn’t make art to behave. She makes it to wake people up.
Because this world doesn’t need more pretty things —
it needs Art with Bite.
Meet the artist: John
I make honest work - raw, direct, and grounded. My background is hands-on, which shapes how I build, break, and push materials until they say something real. I’m not chasing trends or perfect polish. I’m after weight, instinct, and pieces that hit you in the gut before the head. If it connects, great. If not, that’s fine too. I make art because it’s the clearest way I know to translate the world as I actually experience it.
● Our Mission & Philosophy
Our Principles
●
Creativity Over Perfection
We celebrate bold ideas, happy accidents, and the magic that happens when things don’t go as planned.
●
Making Made Accessible
We believe the arts should be available to every human.
●
Artists at the Helm
curiosity, discipline, and a lifelong creative practice.
●
Process Over Product
We emphasize exploration and making over polished results, helping scrappers see value in the work itself.
